Electrostatic Painting
WHAT IS ELECTROSTATIC PAINTING
Electrostatic painting uses positively-charged paint particles from a specialized device to coat grounded metal surfaces.
HOW IT WORKS
The electrostatic paint sprayer adds an electrical charge to the paint. The electrical charge does two things. First, it turns the paint into a fine mist. Secondly, the electrical charge causes the paint to be magnetically attracted to metal. It works using positively charged ions attached to atomized particles. These particles gravitate to grounded, negatively charged metal. As a result, there is very little if any overspray. At least 95% of the paint coming out of the nozzle is attracted to the metal and actually wraps itself around small areas like railing spindles. Beyond that, it’s much like standard spray painting without the mess. It’s done on-site with wet tint that requires 12 to 24 hours to cure but are often dry to the touch in only a couple hours.
WHERE IT CAN BE APPLIED
Metal doors and frames
Metal railing
Lockers
Metal fencing and gates
Metal playground equipment
Metal bleachers
Spiral stairs
Utility fixtures
Structural components
Decorative metal
Metal sculptures
It has a wide range of interior and exterior applications. Most commonly used on household components like spiral staircases, railings, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, and frames for doors and windows. You can apply it to almost any metal surface with the right preparation.
BENEFITS
Reduced Costs - With electrostatic painting, the amount of time required to paint surfaces is greatly reduced. One pass rather than three or four is all that is generally needed. Fences and stair railings can often be done with an application from one side, not both. Fewer labor hours means reduced cost to the customer.
Long-Lasting- The durable finish often lasts two times longer, meaning paint maintenance costs are lower due to less frequent painting.
Beautiful Finish - The fine spray and the magnetic draw of the paint to the metal creates an extremely smooth, even finish to the metal on which it is applied. Drips and brush strokes are eliminated. It is as close to a factory finish paint coat as can be achieved. It covers most old paint without an issue and adheres well, as long as the existing paint is in good condition. End results are visually pleasing and near perfect.
